Streaks of a racing day
are a million kinds of home
and blue.
In the air –
are arrow clouds left by
aeroplanes –

And I remember
a four-foot-nothing
mini-me
in every airport
from smoggy Manila,
expensive Dubai,
crisp Linz,
to the happy rain
of Vancouver,
finding home
in the transition places.

And I remember,
mini-me would wonder
at the streaks of white on blue
that mean so little
to people that have never moved
continents
(let alone mountains).

And I remember,
mini-me would squirm
behind the airport glass
and long to take
to sky
because the antidote
for homelessness
is flying.

Carry on as I board
with my carry-on,
as arrow clouds left by
aeroplanes
are in the air –

Emma Dumitra.
